Part 3of8 of the Seahawks player grades from the Vikings game. Quarterbacks and Offensive Lineman have already been posted.

Running Backs

The Seahawks gained 150 yards on the ground this week.

1) Leon Washington (B)

Last week Leon received a C+.

THE GOOD:

Washington showed good balance breaking a tackle where he had one leg hit. He had good vision on the run where he made a nice cutback turning nothing into a big gain. For the game he averaged 6.5 yards per carry.

THE BAD:

Leon only got 4 carries in the game.

2) Justin Forsett and Michael Robinson (B-)

Last week Justin didn’t play and Michael receive a C+.

THE GOOD:

Forsett was able to break tackles and pick his way through small holes in the line. He showed patience waiting for the hole to form and then stuck his foot in the ground and hit it. Michael got a rare carry on a fourth down play and he kept his legs pumping to get the first down after it looked like he would be stopped short. On special teams he did a good job getting down the field in punt coverage.

THE BAD:

Justin averaged 1.1 yards per carry but a lot of that was due to running him 4 times at the goal line and going no where.

4) Thomas Clayton (C+)

Last week he led all backs with a B+.

THE GOOD:

When he had the ball he kept his legs pumping to gain extra yards. He continues to show he can handle pass blocking responsibilities by picking up the blitz and being successful cut blocking.

THE BAD:

Thomas wasn’t able to make a guy miss when he had him 1:1 in space. His vision was questionable on a play where he had a clean hole to the outside but chose to cut it up inside where two defenders were waiting for him.

5) Marshawn Lynch and Via Taua (C-)

Last week Marshawn was last on the team with a C and Via wasn’t on the team.

THE GOOD:

Lynch ran hard and gained extra yards with second effort. Taua averaged 7.5 yards per carry.

THE BAD:

Marshawn had trouble pass blocking against the linebacker. He didn’t have many holes and only gained 2 yards on 3 carries. Via wasn’t given many chances to make an impression with the ball in his hand and the only time he touched it in the passing game he dropped it.

7) Dorson Boyce (D+)

THE GOOD:

As a receiver he had a good game catching three ball all of which were for a first down.

THE BAD:

Being a fullback his most important job is blocking and he missed two blocks in the running game including one that may have sprung a touchdown.
