Seahawks Wide Receiver and Tight End Grades

Wide Receiver

1) Ben Obomanu(B-)

Last week C+

THE GOOD:

Ben kept fighting after making the catch to gain extra yards. He showed concentration when he was hit hard right after making the catch and was able to not only hang onto the ball but kept his balance and gain extra yards. He led all receivers in both targets and receptions.

THE BAD:

Obomanu had a chance to make a catch on a ball that was thrown high but was catch-able. If he had been able to make the catch it would have been a big 3rd down conversion.

2) Golden Tate and Kris Durham (C+)

Last Week: Golden B and Chris was not on the game day active roster. This was Kris’ first game in the NFL.

THE GOOD:

Golden made a nice catch on the sidelines while staying under control and getting his feet down in bounds. Kris usually reached out and caught the ball with his hands and on a play where he let it into his pads he maintained concentration and hauled the pass in.

THE BAD:

Tate was only targeted twice. As I stated above Durham let a ball get into his pads and it bounced up in the air.

4) Mike Williams and Doug Baldwin (D)

Last Week: Mike C+ and Doug led all receivers with a A-

THE GOOD:

Mike doesn’t have to watch any game film this week because of his “No Negativity” campaign.

THE BAD:

Williams played a lazy game. On one play he was running a clear out route for FB Eddie Williams but because his route was never intended to see the ball he just jogged it out and never threatened the safety who was able to turn his attention to Eddie and make the play. On a wide receiver screen where he was called upon to block the corner back he made a lazy attempt to stick out one arm to block him while just standing there. Baldwin gave up on a route once he failed to get open. What I mean by this is that sometimes a WR runs his route to no avail but the quarterback is still looking for a target. At this point the receiver needs to fight to get open but instead he just stood around watching the quarterback run around in the pocket. He missed two blocks on special teams, one on a punt return and the other a kick return.

Tight End

1) Zach Miller (B)

Last Week led tight ends with a C+. Zach was used more as a blocker than a receiver.

THE GOOD:

Zach did a solid job blocking. He had a nice backside cut block and a nice block on a screen. On his only catch reached out and caught the ball while going to the ground on an inaccurate pass.

THE BAD:

He spent so much time blocking that he never had a chance to be a factor in the passing game.

2) Anthony McCoy (C-)

Last week F

THE GOOD:

Anthony had a much better game this week then he did last week.

THE BAD:

McCoy missed on a cut block and only had a 4.5 yards per catch average.
