Seahawks Defensive Line Grades Regular Season Game 2011-6
Seahawks Defensive Line Player Grades
1) Brandon Mebane (A+)
Last week A+
THE GOOD:
Brandon had McCoy’s snap count down pat and was able to get a good jump off the ball all game. He hit the quarterback once and had three more quarterback pressures including a play where he did an excellent job on a stunt. Mebane was able to fight off blocks and make three tackles for short gain including a play while he was being double teamed. He also had a tackle for loss.
THE BAD:
Te Seahawks cannot clone him.
2) Alan Branch and Chris Clemons (A-)
Last week: Alan A and Chris A+
THE GOOD:
Branch spent a lot of the game in the backfield. He was getting penetration in the passing game as well as the running game. He tipped a pass, batted one down and had two quarterback pressures. In the running game he was creating problems by being in the backfield but did not record any tackles for loss although he managed a tackle for no gain. Like Mebane, Clemons was getting of the snap well. He recorded 2 sacks in the game and was able to hit the quarterback on another play. He had a tackle for a loss and a tackle for no gain in the running game.
THE BAD:
Alan lost outside contain on the quarterback when the defense was blitzing from the opposite side allowing Colt McCoy to run away from the two free blitzers. On one running play Chris was unable to fight off a block by the tight end and on a passing play he was sent into zone coverage but did not drop deep enough.
4) Anthony Hargrove and Raheem Brock (B)
Last week: Anthony C+ and Raheem B-
THE GOOD:
Anthony was getting a good jump of the snap and that helped him get to the quarterback and hit him a couple times. He was also able to get run penetration. Raheem had a couple quarterback pressures and also showed a nice spin move that helped him make a tackle for short gain.
THE BAD:
Hargrove missed a block on a kick return.
6) Clinton McDonald (B-)
Last week B-
THE GOOD:
He was able to get some pressure in the running game and had a quarterback pressure.
THE BAD:
There were no glaring mistakes made on his part.
